Description

Sow at 1.5 grams per square metre.

Add wildflowers to your horses grazing ley to increase the availability of nutrients in their forage.  Our mix of native British wildflowers is particularly palatable and completely safe for your horse or pony.

Wildflower Mix for Horse Fields includes:

Kidney vetch adds to the overall diversity of the grazing ley and is a good source of trace minerals.

Sainfoin is a natural wormer and a good source of condensed tannins which aid the digestion of protein.  It is high in Omega-3 fatty acids which improve the resilience of the immune system. Sainfoin hay, also known as ‘holy hay’ or ‘healthy hay’, is low in sugar and starch and is particularly suitable for horses on a strict diet.

Ribwort plantain is a fast-growing, long-lasting herb, and a rich source of calcium and selenium.  It helps maintain a healthy digestive system and its leaves are high in anti-inflammatory compounds making the herb effective for all types of inflammation.

Meadowsweet is a great natural alternative to ulcer treatments and is beneficial in the treatment of digestive and joint pain.

Lady’s bedstraw adds to the overall diversity of the grazing ley and is a good source of trace minerals.

Lucerne is a nutrient-dense legume, containing more digestible energy - more protein and calcium and fewer sugars and starches - than most grasses.

Sheeps burnet, or salad burnet, is drought tolerant with a long growing season.  It is highly nutritious and an excellent source of trace elements.

Dandelion is an excellent source of potassium for horses.  It’s a natural diuretic that cleanses the liver and can also be useful for easing chronic pain and inflammation.  It is very nutritious and a great source of trace minerals and antioxidants.

All the native wildflower seed in our mixtures is sourced from stock grown in the wild in Britain.  It is then multiplied up commercially and mixed and packed in the UK so you can be confident you are buying native British wildflower seed.

For best results sow in the spring from March through to May, or in the autumn, from late August through to October.  Best sown onto a bare seedbed, or an existing grass sward with at least 50% bare soil.
