Description

Rowan | Sorbus aucuparia

This distinctive compact deciduous tree is effective as part of hedging or as a specimen tree in a smaller garden or woodland.  Rowan trees are suitable for gardens of all sizes.

A wildlife-friendly native tree, the rowan or mountain ash has flat clusters of white flowers in the spring which are attractive to pollinators, and orange-red berries in the early autumn which are eaten by many bird species such as blackbirds, mistle thrushes and waxwings.

Rowans grow to over 12 metres in height and are tolerant of atmospheric pollution.

Our rowan whips are grown in the UK from UK origin seed.
