Description

Bird's-foot Trefoil Plug Plants Lotus corniculatus

Common names include eggs and bacon, hens and chickens, butter and eggs and deervetch.

With distinctive egg-yolk yellow flowers, this low-growing native perennial wildflower makes a colourful addition to your garden or meadow.

Ideal for a wide range of grassy habitats, plant bird's-foot trefoil in wildlife gardens, wildflower meadows, informal cottage gardens and flower beds and borders.

It is excellent for the wildlife in your garden; its flowers are a great nectar source for bees and it is an important food source for the caterpillars of butterflies such as the common blue and the wood white.

Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our plug plants are an ideal way to boost species in a wildflower meadow or to easily establish plants in your garden or in areas where seed germination can be erratic.

We recommend planting 5 plugs per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
